“I made a reservation for a friend for December 26, 2021, through Bookings.com for 10 days at Hilton Double Tree Inn in Newark near Penn Station. We were looking forward to exploring Newark and NYC. At the desk, we were asked to provide $350 deposit. However, due to a family emergency, we had to cancel the next day. At the desk I tried to check out and was told I couldn't. It was non-refundable. Not true according to Bookings.com. I then asked if I could have the $350 deposit back. The manager said I couldn't. Upset and confused, I left. The manager was very rude and condescending. Taking a few days to chill, I called and spoke to the manager again. He said he would have to contact Bookings.com to confirm the cancellation, even though I had the email in front of me while were were talking. Apparently, Hilton's system doesn't connect with third party bookings. I said it didn't make sense for them to hold the $350 when the room had been vacated. The manager--his name is Sebastian--again was very condescending. Like he was speaking to a 14 year-old. I'm a college professor. I have rarely, rarely, been treated this way. Instead of understanding and being helpful, he spoke down to me like I was some kid. What is this manager's training? Why does he think he can treat customers like this? I told him I didn't appreciate his condescending manner and he practically hung up on me. I will NEVER EVER recommend this Hilton (Newark Penn Station) or ANY OTHER HILTON. Let's see if he emails me back with good news.”

“UN DESASTRE. Este hotel tiene el peor servicio que he recibido. El personal de front desk es maleducado, poco servicial y realmente insolente. El gerente Sebastián es una persona realmente desagradable que en todo momento se encarga de hacer sentir incómodos a los huéspedes. Nos tuvieron durante horas esperando un cuarto porque son desorganizados. El aire hacía más ruido que el motor de un auto de los años 70 y el agua se atascaba en el lavamanos, nadie vino a arreglarlo a pesar de nuestros pedidos. Luego recibieron un paquete a mi nombre y se negaron a devolverlo dejando de responder los correos. Una experiencia horrible.”
