Welcome to Europamundo! Upon arriving at the airport, we will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. Check the information boards in the hotel reception area for details of the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travelers.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT: Meteora Valley with entrance to a Monastery. Dinner included.

We set off in the early morning for the North of Greece. A stop at KAMENA VOURLA, a beautiful tourist centre by the sea amidst magnificent countryside. Continuation northbound. We make a brief stop at the gorge where the battle of Thermopylae took place. We will visit KASTRAKI, a picturesque village with beautiful views over the whole valley. Time for lunch before visiting the Valley of the METEORA, an impressive place declared Unesco World Heritage. We will see the whole of the valley and will have the chance to enter one of the most famous monasteries (entrance included). Dinner and accommodation.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT: Delphi and Thessaly region.

We will travel south through the Thessaly region. We will arrive in DELPHI after enjoying the view of wonderful landscapes. Entrance fee included to visit the beautiful archeological complex looking over the Gulf of Corinth offering amazing vistas. After that, we travel to the OSIOS LOUKAS MONASTERY, one of the most beautiful Byzantine monasteries in Greece, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its magnificent mosaics from the 11th century are surprising. We will resume our journey to ATHENS. Arrival in the evening.

TODAY´S HIGHLIGHTS: City tour in Athens. Evening transfer.

We will enjoy a panoramic tour of the city with a local guide which includes the Presidential Palace, the Panathinaikos stadium where the first modern Olympic games were held, the national library, the bustling squares of the center; the new neighborhoods that emerged after the 2004 Olympic games. The tour will end at the Acropolis site (entry not included). In the evening we include a transfer to the PLAKA quarter, a place full of small Greek taverns where you can also enjoy this country´s folklore.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT: Peloponnese region. Corinth canal. Mycenae archaeological site. Dinner included.

In the morning, we leave for the Peloponnese region. We make a stop at the CORINTH CANAL. After this, we have time in the immense fortress of ACCRA CORINTH (entrance included). At the top of the settlement are the foundations of what was a temple to Aphrodite. We go on to MYCENAE, a colossal citadel from the eighteenth century BC, the birthplace of the first European civilisation (entrance included). We stop in TRIPOLI, the provincial capital of a region that produces excellent wines. In the middle of the afternoon, we go on our way to OLYMPIA. Dinner included.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT: Olympia´s archeological site. Patras Cathedral. Overnight voyage from Greece to Italy.

We will visit OLYMPIA´s archeological site with a local guide. You will have a chance to visit its museum and archeological site (ticket included) which was the cradle of the Olympic games in ancient times. After this, we cross the mountainous interior of the Peloponnese. We continue to PATRAS where we visit the Orthodox cathedral of the city, the largest in Greece. Time for lunch.

At 17.30 (the time may change) we board a very modern ferry, much more like a cruiser. The ship sails along the Greek coast, passing the islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia and making a stop at Igumenitsa. Accommodation in double cabins with bathroom.

Notes: Sometimes, due to the weather, the servicing of the ship or changes in times, strikes, or if the ferry is full, we might take a different ferry from Igumenitsa or travel to Rome by plane. Breakfast on the ferry is not included.

Note: from July 1st to September 9th the ferry departure time from Patras will be at 14.30hrs, the itinerary being modified. During this period, there will be no stop in Patras due to the advanced departure, however a stop will be made in Assisi the next day on the way to Rome.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Ferryboat-Loreto.

Morning resting on board on our journey through the Adriatic. Arrival in Ancona scheduled at 14 hrs., disembarkation and continuation to LORETO, time to visit the sanctuary of the Holy House, the house of the Virgin Mary, and to tour its beautiful medieval town. After that we cross the Apennines amidst beautiful countryside in the Abruzzos region. ROME -Arrival at the end of the day-.

An early start in Rome, to travel to the south of Italy. We pass through NAPLES where we embark (boat ticket included) for the ISLAND OF CAPRI; if you wish, you can take a launch to the White Grotto or take a trip on the cable car to Capri capital. After lunch, we will board once more and continue to SORRENTO, a town full of charm and tourist life at the foot of the cliff. Time to stroll. We continue to the Gulf of Salerno. Accommodation in SALERNO.

We travel to the south of ¨the boot¨. Attractive southern Italian scenery as we cross the Cilento National Park. We arrive in PAOLA, on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, we visit the sanctuary of St Francis of Paola and we have free time for lunch in its pretty historic centre. We go on our way to VILLA SAN GIOVANNI where we take a short ferry crossing to the island of SICILY. Arrival in MESSINA where we will have time for a stroll and to visit the cathedral before continuing to TAORMINA. Dinner included. NB: Accommodation in the “region of Taormina”, the accommodation may sometimes be in Messina.

At the foot of the Etna volcano, the very beautiful city of TAORMINA was defined by Churchill as the prettiest place on earth. Time to stroll around the ancient city centre full of life, its Greek theatre overlooking unforgettable scenery. You can also enjoy the beach. Dinner included.

We travel to SYRACUSE, a city which for a time rivalled Athens and Rome for its power and splendour. Time to visit its magnificent historic centre. After lunch we go on to NOTO, a small city that seems to have stopped in time, the Baroque jewel of Sicily. We carry on towards AGRIGENTO. In the coach we see the magnificent temple complex. Dinner included.

With a local guide we visit the Valley of the Temples, an impressive archaeological site considered the most complete complex of Greek temples (ticket not included). We travel to MARSALA, a historic city with a lot of atmosphere and a famous wine, and time for lunch. We go on around the Marsala salt marshes to ERICE, a very picturesque Phoenician town overlooking the sea. Time to stroll. We carry on to PALERMO. Dinner included.

After breakfast, tour of PALERMO. The Sicilian capital is a city full of contrasts. Stories of Arabs, Normans, the splendour of the Baroque period. We include a transfer to the beautiful village (now an outlying district of Palermo) of MONREALE. The city particularly stands out for the Palace of the Normans with its Palatine Chapel and Cathedral. At the end of the afternoon we board a modern night ferry. Accommodation in double cabins with bathroom.

Arrival in NAPLES first thing in the morning (breakfast not included). After disembarking, time for breakfast. We continue to POMPEII to see the remains of this Roman city that was covered by the ash of Vesuvius with a local guide (tickets not included). After lunch, continuation to CASSINO to see the immense Abbey; time too in the Polish Cemetery that reminds us that one of the toughest battles of the Second World War took place here. Continuation to ROME. Arrival in Rome at the end of the afternoon.
